Well, I’ve found myself in this position probably about one hundred times in my long years of service covering severe weather in the Ozarks. It’s the next morning and I’m sleep-deprived!  Way back in the day, before the young-ins, I could sleep late but of course the demands of a dad prior to school get me up early.  As I always say, no matter how late I stay up, I’m waking up at the same time the next morning!

I’m just glad the rain stopped.  We are having a very wet September as I posted on my weather geek site Ceaseless Wind.  It looks like I’ll be able to get a grass cutting in however as the rain will be taking a break for a while, well, at least substantial, heavy rain seems to be out of the forecast for a bit.

I like cool, “post-frontal” days like today where the high temperature will stay below eighty.  It is one of the first reminders that fall is coming.  I hope the cool weather helps my students at Missouri State University to do well on their first test today!  This is the official end to the “honeymoon” period, the time before I grade the first exam.

Speaking of teaching, I’ve been knocking on the door of Drury University lately to see if students there might be interested in an Atmosphere Science class.  My feeling is that just the severe weather and televison stories alone would make for an entertaining and informative class.  There seems to be some initial interest, we’ll see!
